Rules and Regulations


a. At our Insurance Company’s insistence livestock exhibitors must provide proof of $1,000,000 liability insurance or entries will have to be refused.
b. All Breeding Class will be held on Thursday, August 4th. Classes will begin at 9:00 am SHARP. The Line Class Judge will also be the Judge for all of the Hitch Classes on Friday and Saturday.
c. An entry fee of 15% will be deducted from your total prize money.
d. Exhibitor entries will be date stamped upon being received by the Secretary. Entries received after the closing date will be penalized an additional 5% of the prize money awarded.
e. Entries must be received by July 22nd, 2022:
 either mailed to the Secretary, Navan Fair, 1279 Colonial Road, Navan, ON, K4B 1N1 or navanfair@bellnet.ca
 visit our website (navanfair.com ) for online entry form with capability to pay via PayPal.
 Exhibitors will receive one day-pass per horse entered to a maximum of eight passes.
 Entries must include the following: 1) Registration numbers and names of horses; 2) Proof of liability insurance for the current
year; 3) Stall reservations and stall fees; 4) Membership fee;
f. Numbers must be obtained from the Show Secretary. Exhibitors must wear appropriate Exhibitor numbers when showing.
g. All animals shown in purebred classes, whether owned or leased, must be registered, in the name of the Exhibitor, in the respective
Breed Registry.
h. The Board of Directors reserves the right to make final decisions on all problems that may arise.
i. All animals must be properly restrained at all times.
j. No entry additions or revisions/substitutions on the day of the show. Please inform the Show Secretary of any scratches that are to
be deleted from a class.
k. Stall fees are as follows: Barn No.1 (Lancaster Barn): $8.00 per stall per day; Barn No. 2: $8.00 per stall per day. Line horses,
which show on Thursday only, must vacate their stalls by 6:00 pm on August 4th. Only those stall reservations made through the
Secretary, by submitting them with the entry forms, will be honoured on a first come basis. Payment by a cheque made payable to
CTAS or PayPal in the correct amount must be included with the entry. No reservations will be accepted over the phone.
Preference to the allocation of stalls will be given to those exhibitors who forwarded payment with their entry form. Due to limited
space, tack stalls may not be available. We ask all Exhibitors co-operation in stabling arrangements. Hitch horses are not to arrive
on the grounds until after 8:00 pm Thursday, August 4th unless specific arrangements have been made through the Fair office.
l. No vehicles allowed in the barns.
m. Horses are not permitted outside of the hitching, stabling, showing, loading and unloading areas; direct routes are designated to
travel between the areas listed above.
n. The Exhibitor(s) shall be responsible at all times for their exhibit at the Navan Fair; and the Cumberland Township Agricultural
Society shall not be held responsible for any accidents occurring to any patron of the Navan Fair on the fairgrounds, during the
Navan Fair or at any other time.
o. No Exhibitor shall receive more than 2 (two) prizes in any one class.
p. The Heavy Horse Division pertains to the following Breeds of horses: Belgian, Clydesdale, Percheron, Shire and Commercial.
q. It shall be the responsibility of each Exhibitor to keep his or her stalls clean by removing manure to a designated area.
r. Exhibitor entrance gate is on Delson Drive.
s. Any driven entry must have two capable drivers, excluding cart classes when handlers are required to enter the ring.
t. Under no circumstances will Exhibitors cover the sponsor plaques mounted in Barn No.1 (Lancaster Barn).
u. If an Exhibitor refuses to leave the ring when excused by the Ringmaster, prize money won in that class will be forfeited.
v. Alcoholic beverages can only be consumed in the licensed areas of the Fairgrounds.
w. Only Exhibitors and Officials will be allowed in the show ring when the classes are in progress.
x. A Judge officiating at the Show shall not be subjected to indignities of any kind during the progress of the show.
y. As a special bonus for this year, to celebrate the 75 th anniversary of the Navan Fair. Mileage will be paid out to exhibitors at a rate of
$0.30 per km. For one round trip per farm, from the farm’s address to the Navan Fair grounds
 Although negative Coggins Test results are not required for draft horse entries, the CTAS recommends that exhibitors
have all horses fully vaccinated and Coggins tested for the protection of themselves, their horses and other exhibitors.

 Animals showing signs of contagious diseases or parasitic infections, e.g. ringworm, IBR, lice, etc., will not be allowed on
the grounds. If a Veterinary check is required, it will be at the expense of the exhibitor and the veterinary ‘s decision is
final.
 In addition, the CTAS recommends that all animals have proof of Rabies Immunization a minimum of 30 days prior to the
show in order to comply with O. Reg. 497/17, which is in affect as of July 1st, 2019.
Program outlining the Order of Classes for Thursday, August 4th, will be available when you pick up your Exhibitors numbers. Please
pick up your numbers by 8:30 am.
Bedding and hay
Each Exhibitor must have purchased a 2022 Membership prior to the Fair in order to exhibit. One-day Memberships are $12.00 and
must accompany the entry form. Exhibitors that have not purchased a 2022 membership will not be permitted to exhibit.

the time of service and sired by a stallion owned and standing in the Province of Ontario at the time of service. The
owner must be a member of the Ontario Belgian Horse Association for the current year. For 2019, the fillies must
have been nominated with the Ontario Belgian Horse Association by July 1st. The prize money for this class will be
paid to each Exhibitor by the Ontario Belgian Horse Association at the annual awards banquet. $300. is donated by
