Rules and Regulations:
Note: Entries are to be brought to the Navan Fair grounds (blue exhibit building) on
Thursday, October 12, 2023 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, and are not to be removed
until Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 3pm.
- For Commercial Orchard and Heritage / Hobby Orchard categories, multiple entries per exhibitor
are allowed (different varieties). - For Novelty categories, only one entry per exhibitor is allowed.
- Entries must be emailed to NavanFruitsandVeggies@gmail.com on or before Sunday, October
8 th , 2023. Please provide the following entry details: Name, Orchard Name (if applicable),
Category, and the Cultivar(s) you are entering. - Exhibitors must send a $20 entry fee via e-transfer to NavanFruitsandVeggies@gmail.com (one
entry fee per exhibitor, no matter how many cultivars are entered in the competition). *
Please note: Members of the Cumberland Township Agricultural Society (CTAS) do not need to
pay an additional entry fee, but must provide their membership number when entering. - Each entry in the Commercial Orchard and Heritage / Hobby Orchard categories must include 3
apples per variety/entry for judging. Any variety is permitted. - The Novelty Categories generally require only one apple, except for the Best Collection of 5
Varieties in a Basket. - Plates will be available to display apples.
- Judging will begin at 4:00pm on Friday, October 13 th .
- Exhibits will be on display during the Navan Fall Fest, Saturday October 14 th , from 11am to 3pm.
- Prizes can be picked up at the Navan Fall Fest, or at the Navan Fair office during regular office
hours. Alternatively, arrangements can be made for delivery to the exhibitor.
Categories
Commercial Orchard Category – reserved for Orchards that are 2+ acres in size.
Heritage / Hobby Orchard Category – reserved for Orchards that are 0-2 acres in size (backyard apple
tree growers).
Novelty Category
- Best Collection of 5 Varieties in a Basket
- Heaviest apple
- Most unusually shaped apple
- Rare Beauty Apple (foraged and found) – include story behind where this tree was found and
history of the cultivar
